Head of Food Safety and Quality Assurance

Responsible for adhering to the Company’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy and Procedures.

Responsible for reporting any non-conforming safety matters immediately to Management.

 Purpose:

This position forms part of the European Headquarters and is accountable for the representation of our client as a company that is committed to excellent safe, quality products and superior customer satisfaction.

It focuses on –

  • Observing facility FSQA concerns during manufacturing and providing guidance on troubleshooting and root cause analysis with all onsite team members.
  • Using SME and experience to identify areas of opportunity that maybe overlooked by less experienced team members.
  • Offering leadership on daily operational FSQA procedures ensuring all stakeholder expectations are being met.
  • Contributing to a hands-on culture approach to increase engagement, motivation, and gain understanding of operational training needs.
  • Working closely, interacting with other onsite LT members to develop & maintain strategy, monitor daily KPI tracking, team member performance and to instill urgent reactions to compliance concerns.
  • Ensuring all stakeholder engagement and communications with FSQA team at manufacturing site are aligned, avoiding miscommunication, ensuring correct understand of FSQA projects and concerns.
  • Contributing to other teams outside FSQA, creating and enhancing business partner relationships at meetings and other Team Member related activities as part of the Leadership committee.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Embedding FSQA culture throughout , to all team members.
  • Accurately leading the FSQA team with regards to planning, organizing, carrying out all projects and assignments and resolving all technical concerns.
  • Supporting the execution of FSQA and Innovation team strategies, meeting operational expectations and activities timeframes ensuring the tactical elements of the FSQA strategy, are supported with measurable KPI and performance measured providing FSQA reporting as necessary to management.
  • Ensuring the adoption, and compliance across all areas of the business to all relevant food safety standards, policies and quality expectations as required by regulatory authorities, management, and customers.
  • Main communicator and customer service management for Customers and Regulatory Bodies on  EMEA FSQA related matters.
  • Leading FSQA strategic conversations with key accounts (QSR, Food Service, Retail).
  • Leading and monitoring the effectiveness, ensuring adherence to the FSQA Management system implemented across the business and operational facility.
    • HACCP and Failure mode effective analysis,
    • Microbiological, chemical, and physical conformity of products,
    • GMP, Personal Hygiene, Cleaning and Sanitation effectiveness,
    • Product specifications and packaging approval,
    • Supplier approval and auditing, including Management of Animal Health & Welfare expectations.
    • Customer and consumer complaints management and communications of technical enquires.
    • On-time, accurate and In-full response to technical requests from customers, regulatory authorities
    • Plants certification (GFSI, Customers, Veterinary Authorities),
    • Investigation and prevention of foreign materials and bone contaminations,
    • Monitoring of emerged and emerging food-safety related issues,
    • Crisis and Communications management.
  • Promoting and assisting where necessary to implement operational best practices, projects & advancements in conjunction with the applicable teams, supporting operational and R & D teams with developing solutions to customer problems, product changes, clarification of policies and procedures.
  • Communicating and Collaborating with International FSQA ensuring guidance is provided to communicate and solve all operational, regulatory and customer critical issues and concerns.
  • Interacting with Commercial and Innovation teams for customer plant tours and all FSQA audits.
  • Coordinating training, the management and development of FSQA team members and assessment of competency.
  • Reviewing FSQA structure collaborating with International FSQA lead and BU lead to provide a sustainable competent FSQA team.
  • Implementing effective brand protection plans and procedures from sourcing to delivery.
  • Overseeing and monitoring real time capture of data, operations compliance module (RedZone). Leading and supporting the team on daily communications and corrective actions.
  • Providing deep dive assistance for facility – Quality / Technical operational specialist improvements & maintenance.

Managing ad-hoc project requests as necessary.
