The Business

Employ Exec are pleased to be exclusively partnering with one of the world’s leading Fresh Food producers to appoint this key leadership role in the critical sustainability arena.

The Role

Our client are committed to championing Sustainability in everything they do and as a result are looking to enhance their already strong function in this area with the appointment of a Sustainability Director to further drive forward their ESG agenda.

General functions:

  • Monitor and evaluate the firm’s operations and processes as they relate to sustainability and compliance with local regulations
  • Lead the execution of the group sustainability strategy, including a short-term business plan and a long-term sustainability vision and goals, targets, and metrics
  • Create the sustainability KPI’s, monitor their performance and properly adjust these according to strategic objectives
  • Lead the development, monitoring, and evaluation of sustainability programs/initiatives
  • Collaborate with various areas of the company to i) embed sustainability in the company’s culture, ii) implement best practices, iii) set goals; and iv) manage partnerships and engage with stakeholders and industry initiatives to promote the company’s sustainability efforts and position it as a leader
  • Stay up to date on sustainable trends and client’s interests/needs to ensure the company’s decision-making and strategy are current and effective
  • Explore sustainable financing options and funding opportunities for the development of sustainability initiatives
  • Lead training sessions and workshops on sustainability practices and policies
  • Lead the development of sustainability reports, presentations, or proposals for various stakeholders (e.g., suppliers, employees, academia, media, government, public interest, etc..)
  • Lead the Sustainability Committee as a cross-functional space to guarantee alignment with the company’s business model and strategy
  • Represent the company at conferences and industry workshops

 

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of corporate sustainability strategy development, implementation and performance reporting or disclosure experience
  • Thorough understanding of Sustainability/ESG standards and guidelines such as SASB, GRI, TCFD, and/or SBTi
  • Experience in ESG strategy, materiality assessments, sustainability reporting, and/or data management approaches for ESG metrics
  • Ability to establish and build close working relationships across the company and with multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Proven skill-set to process and analyse key information among stakeholders and collaborators
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to take projects to achieve commercial success
  • Strong governance and business process improvement capability with an understanding of the regulatory and compliance environment
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Environmental Management, Sustainability Management, or equivalent preferred.
